This evening at Watermark Books (4701 E. Douglas), nationally acclaimed novelist and short story writer Antonya Nelson will be reading from her latest collection, entitled Nothing Right. This will kick off a series of four special in store events with the author:
7pm Thursday: Reading and Book-Signing. Free and open to anyone.
Noon Friday: Lunch with writing groups. Writers are welcome to attend this luncheon, which for $35 will include lunch, a signed copy of Nothing Right and a Q+A session with Nelson on writing and the creative process. (I will be attending this event.)
2pm Friday: Nelson will visit with book clubs. $25 gets you admission and a signed copy of Nothing Right.
1-5pm Saturday: Writing Workshop, which will include exercises and discussion, with tickets running $75 and including a signed copy of the book.
I picked up my copy of the book yesterday evening and am already about 120 pages deep. The title story is set in Wichita (as are several others), and is magnificent. A full review of the collection will be posted within the week.
To register for any of the events, you can reach Watermark Books at 316-682-1181.
