Allen Drury's "Advise and Consent"

Just checking in to publish a quick note to my fellow booksellers.

While listing a signed Franklin Library Edition copy of Drury's Advise and Consent this morning I noticed that reading copies, mass market copies and nearly all editions of this 1959 political novel are fetching $20 and up.  Expect copies in hardcover formats, early printings and quality condition to fetch closer to $50, especially when selling via multiple outlets or in an Ebay store with Make an Offer.

This is a book I have come across hundreds of times in the field, and is one that I passed up most of the time because it seemed too common to be worth bothering with.  Perhaps I am mistaken, but I think that the current values may be being influenced by the fact that there does not appear to be an in print version in any format.

For those of you who may be wondering where on earth I have been, stay tuned, as I have several exciting posts that I will be publishing in the coming week...

Barnes and Noble Groupon for Booksellers

Amazon just ran a Groupon last week, and it looks like Barnes and Noble is following suit today with the following deal:

That's right!  Spend $10 on a Barnes and Noble Groupon and receive $20 in store credit.  Basically, what you're paying for here is a 50% off coupon, which is usually a pretty good deal for bibliophiles.  Make sure to read the fine print, as it looks like this expires April 10th, or at least the value is reduced to $10, making the discount disappear.

Knowing me, this will be spent sometime this weekend.  The limit is 1 per customer, and it doesn't look like it will let you buy one as a gift, so just make sure to pass the deal along to your friends and family.
